A Lufthansa Airbus A380 will be given the name “Wien” at Vienna Airport on 22 August 2011.

The visit by the A380 can be followed on this Internet site. Vienna Airport will be transmitting the entire event, from the landing at 08:30 to the naming ceremony and take-off. Aeronautic experts will commentate, and watchers will be offered fascinating insights into the inner workings of the aircraft. The timetable is as follows:

Free tour of airport apron

Visitors can book to attend the A380 event via the Vienna Airport visitor centre VISITAIR Centre, which will be offering free bus tours of the airport apron and A380 parking position. Registrations on 01 7007-7700 as long as there is space.
 

Security regulations

Because of the heightened security regulations, all participants in the tour must go through a security control. Please do not bring any liquids, scissors, knives or sharp objects with you.
 

Reduced price tickets for City Airport Train

The City Airport Train (CAT) is offering reduced price tickets for €10return. They are obtainable from the ticket office at Wien‑Mitte or online at www.cityairporttrain.com. Visitors are advised to use the CAT, Vienna Airport Lines or public transport to reach the airport. The parking and viewing areas in the car parks are very limited because of the high volume of passengers in August. A good view of the A380 can be obtained in car park 4, level 8.
