New airlines, destinations & frequenciesAustrian Airlines
On 2 November 2011, Austrian Airlines will start one weekly frequency to Male with a Boeing 777 aircraft.

Beginning with the winter timetable, Austrian Airlines will offer an additional frequency to Toronto - in total there are four weekly frequencies, operated by a Boeing 767 aircraft.

On 5 October 2011 Ural Airlines started two weekly frequencies from Vienna to Chelyabinsk with an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Air Malta
Compared to winter timetable 2010/2011, Air Malta operates an additional frequency to Malta on Monday. The flights are operated by an Airbus A319/A320 aircraft.

ActivitiesInaugural Skywork Airlines
Skywork Airlines were welcomed at Vienna Airport on 5 September 2011 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The arriving passengers received typical Viennese chocolates as a welcome present. The ribbon was cut by Julian Jäger (COO Vienna Airport), Günther Ofner (CFO Vienna Airport), Tomislav Lang (CEO Skywork Airlines) and Mathias Häberli (CEO Bern-Belp Airport) with golden scissors.
Vienna welcomes back Aegean Airlines
On 12 September 2011 Aegean Airlines reopened the route Vienna-Athens. There was a welcome reception at the gate with journalists and staff from Vienna Airport and Aegean Airlines. The passengers were welcomed with snacks and drinks.
